ESSENTIAL Standards
Kindergarten
English Language Arts
- I can name all the letters of the alphabet both upper and lower case.
- I can say all the sounds of the letters both upper and lower case.
- I can demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables and sounds.
- I can read 30 sight words.
- I can use a combination of drawing, dictating and writing to compose a sentence.
Mathematics
- I can count to 100 orally by ones and tens.
- I can name numerals 1-20.
- I can count to tell the number of objects with 1 to 1 correspondence to 20.
- I can compose the teen numbers.
Social Emotional Learning
- I can make safe and constructive choices about my behavior and social interactions.

First Grade
English Language Arts
- I can isolate, add, remove and change sounds in words.
- I can read one syllable words.
- I can automatically read and recognize 100 sight words.
- I can retell stories with key events and details with prompting and support.
- I can write about a topic to introduce an idea/opinion, include 2 or more details and have a sense of closure with guidance.
Mathematics
- I can count orally forward from any number within 12
- I can count orally backward from any number within 120.
- I can add a two-digit number and a one-digit number within 100.
- I can subtract a two-digit number and a one-digit number within 100.
Social Emotional Learning
- I can make safe and constructive choices about my behavior and social interactions.
Second Grade
English Language Arts
- I can read one and two-syllable words with short vowels, final e and common vowel teams.
- I can read and comprehend the main idea and key details.
- I can read grade level passages fluently with expression.
- I can write to a topic to introduce an idea, state an opinion, or write a story including 2 or more details, and have a sense of closure.
Mathematics
- I can understand each digit of a number has a place name and value up to 1,000.
- I can add within 1,000 using models, drawings, and/or strategies.
- I can subtract within 1,000 using models, drawings, and/or strategies.

Third Grade
English Language Arts

I can demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation and spelling when writing.

After reading a passage, I can write to a prompt to share information or an opinion, or to tell a story using good traits of writing and text evidence.

I can add within 1,000 using strategies and/or standard algorithms.
I can subtract within 1,000 using strategies and/or standard algorithms.
I can use models and/or strategies to solve single digit multiplication problems.
I can use models and/or strategies to solve single digit division problems.
I can read, create, and use models to represent fractions as equal parts.

I can multiply multi-digit numbers (multiply 2 digit by 2 digit, up to 4 digit by 1 digit).
I can divide multi-digit numbers (divide up to 4 digits by 1 digit).
I can compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators.
I can recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
