A picture with trucks and other machines with snow plows

Plows are on our vehicles and Ephrata School District maintenance crews are getting ready for winter weather. It takes an army of employees to battle the snow and ice to make schools safe on winter days. Maintenance crews get to work at 4:30 a.m. to start clearing sidewalks, parking lots, bus loops and other high traffic areas. They're helped by our day custodians to clear paths for students and staff. We appreciate all their efforts to make school run safely.

The Melcher Family stands behind a park bench dedicated to Evie Melcher

Grant Elementary staff gathered with the family of Evelyn "Evie" Melcher on Wednesday, November 16 to share stories and honor her life. Evie passed away from a medical condition over the summer. She would have been a fourth grader this year.

Teachers paid tributes to her, calling her "A whirlwind with her own energy and her cute little boots." Another said, "Evie didn't walk into a classroom, she'd skip. Her smile lit up the room."

These students were recognized for their ability to: show that they are responsible, be consistent, help others, do what's expected, be there for others, be trustworthy, remember promises, follow through, be on time and be reliable. Congratulations to these Grant Scholars on their hard work towards being dependable!
